Since opening its doors in 2009, ASD Cape Town has enjoyed team and individual successes including league championships, international call-ups and scholars graduating into the professional game...

   

2013

  • February - ASD Cape Town's David Gateri picks up another full international cap in Kenya's international friendly against Libya. Gateri gets awarded Man of the Match.
  • January - ASD Cape Town's Club Captain Ethan Sampson leaves ASD Cape Town to join his new club Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS.

 

2012

  • October - ASD graduate Ayanda Patosi named 4th best player in Belgian Pro League, aged 19. 
  • October - ASD's Indian Under19 international Brandon Fernandes has 2 week trials at English Premier League team Reading FC and English Championship team Leicester City FC.
  • October - ASD Club Captain Ethan Sampson completes successful trial at USA MLS team Vancouver Whitecaps.
  • October - ASD take over the running of Salt River Blackpool's Vodacom franchise for season 2012/13.
  • October - 5 ASD scholars selected in South Africa's National Under17 squad.
  • September - Goalkeeper Lucky Mshumpela signs professional contract with South African PSL side Santos.
  • September - Attacker Devon Saal and defender Thabiso Posholi sign professional contracts at South African National First Division side Milano.
  • August - Midfielder Sherwin Bailey invited for training experience at Belgian Cup Winners Sporting Lokeren.
  • May - Under19s beat Kenya Under20 National Team 3-1 in friendly match.
  • May - ASD graduate Ayanda Patosi wins Belgian Cup with Sporting Lokeren and qualifies for 2012/13 Europa League.
  • May - ASD Cape Town invited to play fixture in Qatar, drawing 1-1 with El Jaish.
  • April - Under19s beat Portugeuse side SC Braga 2-0 on European Tour. They also impress against Spanish giants Deportivo La Coruna and Belgians Sporting Lokeren.

 

2011

  • November - Ebrahim Seedat selected for national U20 team.
  • October - Ayanda Patosi scores first professional goal for Lokeren in their 3-1 win over Racing Genk.
  • October - Ayanda Patosi hailed 'brightest young African talent in Europe'.
  • July - Ayanda Patosi and Ebrahim Seedat sign professional contracts with Sporting Lokeren in Belgium.
  • July - ASD's David Gateri makes full debut for Kenya National Team aged only 16 in front of 80,000 fans at Soccer City, Johannesburg.
  • May - Under 19 European Tour victories against Belgian Pro League clubs KV Mechelen (4-0) and RSC Anderlecht (4-1). European soccer press hails ASD 'South Africa's Barcelona'.
  • April - Under19s finalists in Metropolitan Premier Cup.
  • March - ASD's Brandon Fernandes temporarily returns to India to represent the national U19 squad. National coach describes Brandon as 'the biggest star of Indian soccer'.  

 

2010

  • December - Under17s and Under19s remain unbeaten in their respective leagues, winning both.
  • July - Under17s win National Engen Tournament
  • April - Under19s enter Metropolitan Premier Cup, 'the Bay Hill Tournament'.  They win the Mid-Section Trophy as debutants. 

 

2009

  • July - Under19 scholars face their first 'elite' opposition in a friendly match.  The Under19s win 4-2 against Ajax Cape Town.
  • April - Struben House opens its doors to its first ASD scholars - 24 14-19 year olds.
